This is one of those things where I see them blow up all over the
Internet and I'm like, hey I've tried those before (in this case, at my
boyfriend's cousin's wedding reception)! And then I immediately try to
play it cool like, yeah didn't I mention those to you like AGES ago? Get
with the times!Okay, just kidding. I'm not a big deal and I certainly don't know how to play it cool. Once I like something, I become a giddy little girl and I want everyone to know about it. I'm one of those people who gets starstruck over celebrities I've never even heard of until someone tells me they're famous.
So, these churro ice cream sandwiches from Churro Borough...what makes them a big deal? First, they are the combination of
two of the best desserts you could ever experience. Second, they taste
amazing, and not just because they are churros and ice cream rolled into
one; the ice cream flavors are unique AND handmade, the churros are
piped into hot discs of cinnamon, chewy goodness and everything about
them is just perfect.
I tried two of the three flavors that were offered
during the reception--vanilla custard and Spanish latte. I wish I had
tried the Orange Creamsicle but my stomach was beyond bursting and the
line behind us was snaking longer and longer. The poor guy serving the
sandwiches could not keep up with the high demand as he struggled to
scoop the stubborn ice cream from its container! It was completely
understandable, though--if I were under pressure to serve 100 seemingly
harmless, food coma-induced guests who suddenly swarmed over like bees
to the table, I would be beyond flustered as well.
Had I known these would become the next cronut, I
would have taken more--and better quality--photos of the churros. Oh
well, until next time!
