The MOUTHwatering PB&J
I love PB&J sandwiches. They're classic, full of flavor, and easy to prepare. Until I started browsing through Mouth's wide selection of jams, jellies and peanut butters, I've never really thought of the full potential and impact a simple PB&J sandwich can have. I've read articles on how to switch up the actual preparation of a PB&J sandwich (in French toast form, fried, and even baked in muffin tins), but never on the different combinations of actual peanut butters and jellies/jams.
Maybe it's because I don't finish my peanut butter and jelly jars fast enough to realize that there can and should be a big flavor/texture change for my next set of sandwich ingredient purchases. Or perhaps I just didn't do enough research to find out what crazy possibilities there are out there. Or maybe, just maybe, I didn't know where to start. For instance, how do I pick and choose among unique PB/jam makers? More importantly, how do I obtain said unique PB/jam without costing myself an arm and leg? Fortunately, these were not things I needed to worry about once I laid my eyes on Reginald's Homemade White Chocolate Macadamia Peanut Butter and its suggested partner in crime, The Jam Stand's Drunken Monkey Jam. They were in full [electronic] display on Mouth for me to purchase and I fully took advantage of that.
Needless to say, the first thing I decided to try once my Mouth box arrived was the peanut butter and jam, in the form of a sandwich. Instead of simply slapping them together on two plain toasts, I wanted to do them justice. So I slathered some butter on either side of two toasts and plopped them on a pan to grill over the stove. Yup, I did it. A grilled PB&J sandwich.
All I can really say is, the discovery and wait (or wait to discovery?) were worth it. So, so worth it! Now, maybe to throw some of my Nutella in there somewhere...
