| A MOUTHful of goodies! |
So I'm always talking about cooking on my blog and where to eat on my Yelp! account, but rarely do I get the opportunity to talk about snacks and tidbits of yummy goodness. Now, before you get the wrong idea, let me just put it out there that I love snacks. I used to live off them back in high school and college (curse you, campus market places! You made me cheat on my body for the past four years!). However, ever since I started independently supporting myself, I started limiting my spending on snacks for budgetary reasons.
Last week, I was mindlessly browsing my Facebook newsfeed when I fell into Facebook's rather creepy advertising trap. Well, in this case, it turned out not to be so much of a trap as a calling. I could not help myself from clicking on the wooden gelato spoon thingy profile thumbnail that said MOUTH. Come on, it was a gelato spoon. I couldn't help myself.
As it turned out, Mouth was not some kind of new gelato brand. Well, what exactly is it then? Think of Etsy, but for food. Real food (pickles, chocolate, jams, you name it) made by real [creative] people. As I started browsing through all the things they had, I was astounded. It wasn't so much as the fact that I was in food heaven that sent my mind reeling--it was the accessibility of it with just the click of a button. I grew up in Taiwan and frequented many, many night markets, food stands and boba shops that were constantly competing with each other to create the latest, most popular food/flavor invention, so being exposed to innovative food is not new to me. However, what is new to me is knowing that there is someone looking out for mom and pop shops and food artists, someone who can shoulder the the responsibility of distributing their hard work and ensuring that they can focus more on doing what they do best--crafting foods.
Excited at the endless options, I could not help myself from adding one item after another in my online shopping cart. Uh oh, the foodie and shopaholic within me could not stop! I finally had to quickly pay when I reached the $50 mark to prevent further credit card damage. All that was left was some anxious waiting.
Today, my package finally arrived! Of course, it came on the day I couldn't be home until 10pm, so I wasn't able to camera whore with it until then.

| Can happiness be found in a box? I guess so! |
So by now I should probably tell you what's in the box. There's the rum infused Drunken Monkey Jam, White Chocolate Macadamia Peanut Butter, Salty Sweet Granola, Mean Beans Spicy Green Bean Pickles, and Bacon Caramel Popcorn. In addition to what I'd ordered, Mouth threw in some extra goodies: a tote bag, a piece of chocolate, discount codes and an issue of Edible Brooklyn, which is pretty sweet of them!
I'm so, so excited to try all of these! Expect me to report on some experiments that I'll be conducting with these goodies! I'm thinking of a Bloody Mary, PB&J, and maybe even some breakfast smoothies? I don't know, the possibilities are ENDLESS!
